With the sport of mixed martial arts and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu growing at a steady pace, more women have begun to practice mixed martial arts and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with the hopes of learning great self defense techniques as well as strength and cardio endurance. Once a male dominated sport, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu–BJJ– has now established a female presence to be reckoned with.
Women all over the world are practicing BJJ to increase self awareness, learn life-saving techniques, and improve overall health. Many female practitioners have struggled with the high number of male participants and the lack of female training partners.
